What do the Lions use it for ?
For us the net has so far been mostly like an electronic one to many bulletin, electronic supplement of the Lion which can be updated daily. Also, e-mail and e-mail lists are channels for personal contact and “personal contact to the unknown friend.” Services that are coming rapidly are interactive message board forums, closed user groups for instance for internal council or district use, fill-in forms the contents of which are sent via e-mail and also more and more real-time services like inet phone, video conferencing, multicast or broadcast videos etc.
To many the net is just a place to show their address and contact info, others find friends, ideas for activities, spread the word of lionism etc. The net is extremely international. For instance in Finland about 85% of the readers of the pages come from abroad or at least read English pages.
What else could we use it for ?
Fill-in forms to automated databases - “no touch systems”
Electronic cash collecting. “Intranets”, real-time meetings, knowledge databases ...
