Future@Lions

Today we know that the survival and development of an organization like the Lions Club depends primarily on its ability to develop and innovate, as well as in questioning what it does and how it does it.

In this context, the following topics were addressed:

  •     The digital transformation, and the related sociological evolution tend to structurally undermine the role of intermediary organizations (in this case between donor and recipient). "What adjustments can be made to the Lions Club business model so that the organization, based on its non-profit status, will continue to have its place in society?"
  •     "How can we ensure that our brand is 20% Millenials in 10 years?"

A task force worked with forty students to answer the following questions about the future of our organization:

  • Adaptation of the Lions model to the evolution of the role of intermediary organizations
  • Evolution of the Lions model in relation to the concerns of Millenials.

Following this study, two main strategic directions will be pursued:

  1.     Implementing the generation-specific Lions model.
  2.     Adapt the Lions Club organization by opening up additional digital channels. This is an important success factor for targeting younger generations.

The working group has established a project library to develop key skills that will enable the Lions club to enrich its mission.

The challenges facing the Lions Club in the future are many; however, the potential for adaptation is there.

The working group sincerely hopes that the ideas proposed in this report will motivate local Lions Clubs and Districts to implement these ideas while adapting and developing them to meet the needs of local communities.
