For many years, the Lions Clubs of Switzerland and the Principality of Liechtenstein have been collecting used eyeglasses to give them a second life. In cooperation with MEDICO Lions Clubs de France, the glasses are sorted, prepared for reuse, recycled where needed and passed on to people in serious need.

This long-term initiative is supported throughout Multiple District 102 by Lions members. Thanks to the commitment of our more than 10,000 members, we maintain a dense network of collection points across Switzerland, which allows efficient central processing of donated eyeglasses.

In many countries of the Global South, new eyeglasses are an unaffordable luxury. The price of a new pair can equal several months of income. Yet clear vision can change daily life in a very concrete way, for learning, working and managing everyday tasks.

In industrialised countries, many people wear glasses, change them regularly and leave older pairs in drawers. These unused eyeglasses can become urgently needed visual aids for others.

People wishing to donate eyeglasses can contact a Lions club in their region. In this way, many effective projects in favour of better vision become possible.
