Move for the Planet

Move for the Planet

"Move for the Planet" means walking, running, swimming, riding a bike or a wheelchair, but it's also a soccer tournament, the important thing being to move according to your physical abilities.

"Move for the Planet" is a decentralized, local event for individuals or groups, with the aim of supporting environmental protection projects. Participants register on an Internet platform, choose the project they wish to support financially, and enter their results after their activity.

"Move for the Planet" will run from April 1 to May 31, 2024. Launched by the German Lions, "Move for the Planet" is going international. Switzerland is also taking part.

We're on the move for greater sustainability!

Let's get moving!

Get some exercise and make a positive impact at the same time? With "Move for the Planet", it's possible! Both the environment and your own health will benefit from taking part in this solidarity event, which runs from April 1 to May 31, 2024.

Who can take part?

Everyone is invited to lace up their shoes - without competition! The aim is to get as many people as possible involved, and to make a gesture together. On your own or in a team with your family, class, colleagues, sports club or institution.

How can I take part?

The course and type of movement can be chosen freely. We recommend a 500 m swim, 1 km wheelchair ride, 5 km run, 10 km walk or 20 km bike ride. In a location of your choice during the Move period from April 1 to May 31, 2024.

Where can I register?

From April 1, 2024 from this web page.

A participation fee (CHF 20.- / CHF 10.- for children) must be paid on registration. This contribution will be used for one of the two supported projects.

Supported projects

Two projects to protect the environment:

  • In Switzerland, by planting Lions trees in our forests. The planting will take place in March 2024 by Lions leaders.
  • A joint project by the Lions of Europe, through the purchase of stoves that save 80% of wood, thereby reducing deforestation in the regions concerned (in Asia and Africa).

Each participant decides on the beneficiary of their contribution. All the money raised goes to the selected project.
