I want to share my impressions from this year's summer Lions Youth Exchange camp that took place in Switzerland (Swiss Historical Experience)! 🇨🇭🇱🇹 It was an amazing camp that I will definitely remember for a lifetime. ❤️
📍 During the first week, I lived in a small town called Emmetten with a wonderful host family and four other girls from different countries (🇺🇦🇫🇮🇦🇹🇲🇾). We lived together in a summer cottage near a hotel. During the first week, we had various activities every day: hiking, swimming in the lake, playing mini-golf, and even took a boat to the nearby city of Lucerne. So, there was definitely no shortage of activities even in a small town. 😊 The host family also introduced me to local dishes, and we spent our evenings together watching the sunset, which was simply indescribably beautiful. 😍
📍 The second week was with another host family in Basel, with the same girls, except for the Malaysian girl (she was replaced by a girl from Turkey 🇹🇷). The second week was a bit calmer, but definitely not boring. I got acquainted with the Basel Leo club, who showed me and most of the camp the city with a fun orientation game. I also had to showcase my culinary skills and prepare a dish from Lithuania 🇱🇹 (of course, I made cold beet soup, which was the true highlight of the evening due to its fresh taste and unusual color)! We got to taste dishes prepared by girls from other host families (🇩🇰🇳🇱🇹🇷🇺🇦🇦🇹🇨🇭🇫🇮🇬🇪). I was very happy that I could get to know Swiss (and not only) culture, lifestyle, and daily life so closely. ❤️
📍The third and fourth weeks were in camp; we lived in Zurich, in a youth hostel. We had already gotten to know each other in Basel, so it was really much braver to start communicating. 🫂 In the first few days, especially everyone got along well, so time in the camp didn't drag on, especially the last few days. The camp leaders were very friendly and inspiring. 🙌🫶During the camp, we visited a lot of places. Every day was led by different LIONS clubs. I had the opportunity to play golf, ⛳️🏌♀️ shoot with a crossbow, visit: a hydroelectric power plant, a zoo, an airport (behind the scenes), 🛩 a monastery, Liechtenstein 🇱🇮, and even eat Italian food in the mountains, on the Italian border. In short, we definitely spent every day without boredom. 🚞
This month provided not only new knowledge about Switzerland but also wonderful friendships with youth from all over the world (🇸🇮 🇮🇹 🇫🇮 🇹🇷 🇮🇳 🇺🇸 🇭🇺 🇺🇦 🇧🇷 🇳🇱 🇩🇰 🇩🇪 🇲🇩 🇬🇪 🇪🇸 🇷🇴 🇨🇳 🇲🇾 🇹🇭 🇯🇵). Every day was filled with impressions, laughter, and new discoveries. Of course, it was a bit exhausting, but with such a great company, I would do it all over again! I am glad that I had the opportunity to attend this camp and to experience and learn so much. ❤️
Thank you to Tomas Grigas, M.K. Čiurlionis Lions Club for this unforgettable experience! 💖
