Lions Life Cycle – Phase 1: Membership Strategy

Membership development must always remain a key topic in our clubs. Surprising resignations should not occur, and no one should feel the need to leave the club simply because of age. Dedicated people outside of Lions must be recognized, and new members should be welcomed into our fellowship.

Before approaching potential new members, we need to define a clear vision and a membership strategy for our club.

Let us ask ourselves: Who are we, and who do we need? Which skills, which organizations, which professions and personalities can enrich our club? Let us also reflect on the values we can offer to these individuals. What do we need to improve in order to attract them as dedicated and motivated members? What service activities do we pursue? How do we finance them? Do we work hands-on?

As Lions, let us give our members our full attention. They are the foundation of our existence and the driving force behind our diverse humanitarian service. The stronger and more diverse our membership, the greater our ability to serve our communities.

Conclusion: Membership development must always remain a priority in our clubs. Surprising resignations should not happen, and no member should have to leave because of age. We must recognize dedicated people outside Lions and open our doors to welcome new members.
